Ardentia & Ironhold – Guardian of the Mountain Monastery

High in the mountains, where narrow roads climb through cold stone and fortified walls rise above the passes, Ardentia stands watch over Ironhold.

A High Cleric entrusted with the protection of the remote monastery stronghold, she serves as both spiritual leader and guardian. Her armour, ceremonial robes and heavy warhammer speak to that dual role—faith carried with authority, and devotion backed by the strength to defend it.

Created by DartArt3D, this edition expands Ardentia into a complete environmental display.

Rather than presenting the character in isolation, the sculpt places her directly before the walls of Ironhold itself. Towers, battlements, timbered details, reinforced gates and the monastery observatory rise behind her, transforming the piece from a character miniature into a compact narrative diorama.

The architecture gives the display much of its presence.

Heavy stone walls dominate the composition, broken up by small windows, timber awnings and structural details that make the stronghold feel inhabited rather than decorative. The large gate reinforces the sense that Ironhold is a functioning fortified monastery, while the elevated observatory introduces a distinctive silhouette above the central tower.

The rocky foundation beneath the structure further strengthens the mountain setting. Rather than sitting on a flat architectural base, Ironhold appears built directly into the stone itself, giving painters the opportunity to connect masonry, rock, timber and weathering into one cohesive environment.

Ardentia remains the focal point within that larger setting.

Her restrained stance creates a strong contrast against the mass of the fortress behind her. She is not shown in the middle of combat, but positioned as a guardian at the threshold—calm, alert and entirely at home beneath the walls she is sworn to protect.

Ironhold itself allows for a wide range of interpretation.

A cold alpine palette built around pale stone, blue-grey roofs and restrained snow effects can emphasise the isolation of the monastery, while warmer sandstone, aged timber and muted brass can push the stronghold toward a more ancient and inhabited appearance.

The observatory dome provides another natural focal point. It can be treated as aged brass, weathered copper, dark iron or even a more fantastical ceremonial structure depending on the painter’s chosen interpretation of Ironhold.

Ardentia’s own colour scheme can then either harmonise with the fortress or deliberately contrast against it. Cool armour and deep blue cloth naturally reinforce the mountain setting, while warmer robes, gold accents and carefully controlled skin tones help keep the character visually distinct from the architecture.

At 75mm scale, Ardentia herself measures approximately 75mm head to toe, while the complete assembled Ironhold display reaches approximately 150mm in total height. The result is a substantial but still cabinet-friendly diorama, with significantly more environmental storytelling than a conventional character miniature.

For collectors who prefer to focus entirely on the character, Ardentia is also available separately as a 150mm standalone display miniature.

As a complete piece, however, Ardentia & Ironhold is defined by the relationship between character and place: a High Cleric standing before the mountain monastery entrusted to her care, framed by the stone, timber and fortified architecture of the stronghold she is sworn to defend.
